Knossos

To the south of Iraklion lies the ruins of Knossos, once the mighty Palace of King Minos. On entering the gates you may not be impressed with your first view of the partially reconstructed Palace, but as you wander through the maze of corridors andchambers of over a thousand rooms, passing walls containing brightly coloured frescoes and great red pillars, still supporting parts of the upper storey of the Palace.

Great red pillars still support the upper floor of the Palace. One can only marvel at the past glory, of this once great Palace.
